COLORADO SPRINGS, CO — A $40 million outdoor amphitheater is planned in Colorado Springs that will have 8,000 seats.
The amphitheater, which will be called The Sunset, is planned to be built on the Polaris Pointe development near Interstate 25 and North Gate Boulevard, according to a Wednesday news release by entertainment company Notes Live.
Renderings showed a Red Rocks style open-air venue facing west toward Pikes Peak and the Air Force Academy. The theater will also have amenities such as 60 VIP luxury fire pit suites, 4- and 5-star restaurants — including a signature seafood and chophouse with a rooftop bar that carries over 150 rare bourbons.
The Sunset is expected to host large touring acts.
"I am building an entertainment company that when you think of our name, you think 'experience,'" J.W. Roth, founder of Notes Live entertainment company, which is building the amphitheater, said in a statement. "There will be no better place to see a concert on earth than at one of our properties".
Roth told the Gazette newspaper he hopes the venue is built by summer's end next year.
