POINT PLEASANT, NJ — A commercial truck with a cracked fuel pump leaked diesel fuel on Herbertsville Road Wednesday morning, causing a sheen on the road, Point Pleasant police said.
The fuel spill was reported about 11:30 a.m., Capt. Adam Picca said, and was visible on Herbertsville Road between Route 88 and Route 70 and on part of Route 88 leading into Point Pleasant Beach at Route 35, he said.
Officers found the commercial delivery truck at Walgreens, 1501 Richmond Ave., where it had become disabled as a result of the cracked fuel pump, Picca said.
The police department notified the appropriate agencies that the fuel needed to be cleaned up, and the Ocean County Road Department responded with sand trucks, he said. Street sweepers are scheduled to complete the cleanup at a later time, he aid.
There were no collateral incidents reported as a result of the spill, Picca said.
Police Officer Ryan Grohowski was the investigating officer.
