CLARKSBURG, MD — A Clarksburg High School student was arrested Wednesday after police received a call about a person with a handgun running toward the school, prompting a lockdown. The caller, who contacted police around 10:18 a.m., said they saw a person display a handgun after a parking dispute in the 22400 block of Brick Haven Way, then run in the direction of the school building. Clarksburg High School, Rocky Hill Middle School and the Goddard School were all put into lockdown by 10:35 a.m., Montgomery County Police said in a news release. Police say the suspect is a student at the school who went into the building and then left. He was arrested at home at 1:04 a.m. and was taken to the 5th District station to be interviewed, authorities said. Clarksburg High School and nearby schools were released from lockdown and shelter-in-place around noon Wednesday, Montgomery County Public Schools said in a tweet. MCPS said that as of 12:09 p.m., Clarksburg High School was cleared to resume normal activities. This story was updated April 6 at 4:40 p.m.
