From the Knoxville Chamber: April 4, 2022 South College again has earned the Military Friendly® School designation and is among the Top 10 in the country for 2022-2023. South College, which first earned the Military Friendly® School designation in 2016, has been a longtime advocate for veterans and supporter of the U.S. military. "It is a privilege to create programs and opportunities for our military-connected students, veterans and their families," South College Chancellor Steve South said. "We hold members of the military in high esteem and this honor recognizes our continued commitment." The South College Military Grant program provides tuition benefits to veterans and spouses of veterans with honorable discharge status; active duty military and spouses; and dependents who are eligible for U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs educational benefits. The institution also participates in the Yellow Ribbon Program, which helps cover eligible participants' tuition not covered by the Post-9/11 GI Bill. South College, based in Knoxville, Tennessee, also has campuses in Nashville, Tennessee; Atlanta, Georgia; Asheville, North Carolina; Indianapolis, Indiana; and Orlando, Florida, and offers online classes and programs. The Military Friendly® Schools list is created each year based on extensive research using public data sources and responses from a proprietary survey. South College is one of 665 Military Friendly® Schools across the country. "Military Friendly® is committed to transparency and providing consistent data-driven standards in our designation process," said Kayla Lopez, national director of military partnerships for Military Friendly®. "Schools who achieve awards designation show true commitment in their efforts, going over and above that standard." To learn more about South College, visit south.edu. About Military Friendly® Schools The Military Friendly® Schools list is created each year based on extensive research using public data sources from more than 8,800 schools nationwide, input from student veterans, and responses to the proprietary, data-driven Military Friendly® Schools survey from participating institutions. The survey questions, methodology, criteria and weighting were developed with the assistance of an independent research firm and an advisory council of educators and employers. The survey is administered for free and is open to all postsecondary schools that wish to participate. Criteria for consideration can be found at militaryfriendly.com.
