Coats, the former chair of the Charleston County School Board of Trustees, was previously on the ballot as a Republican candidate for the state superintendent position. Coats reportedly dropped from the race after learning that she would need a master's degree for the position. (ABC NEWS 4)Officials with Elbit Systems of America have broken ground on a new 135,000 square-foot facility. The new building will be located on Sightline Drive in North Charleston.
