Description

I saved this beautiful pup from the pound, but my 13-year-old Weimaraner will not warm up to him, he's a grumpy old man. I hate to return him to the pound, after all the work we've done to train and socialize him, he deserves a forever family, not puppy jail! He is fully vaccinated, microchipped (you can register it, I've not done it yet) and he's been neutered. The vet says he's between 10 months and a year old. He was quite skinny when I got him, but now he's around 35-40lbs pure muscle. He is a solid dog, but he LOVES to cuddle along your side, with his head on your chest. He loves to ride in the car, play frisbee, and fetch. He loves toys and doesn't immediately destroy them. He's never chewed up anything that wasn't given to him. He's a high jumper, he may be mixed with a brindle Whippet, he's very nimble on his feet, and fast, and those ears are ridiculous, they move in such peculiar ways :) He's never attempted to jump over our fence or dig at all, even though our neighbors on both sides have dogs out in the yard. He's 90 percent house trained, that number was zero when I got him a month ago. He's a fast learner and aims to please. We've been working on shake for treats, and getting there. Warning, he is very clingy and will want to be with you at all times, even in the bathroom, lol. I would not recommend him for a family with small children, but certainly, I think 8 and up would be fine, just because he may jump and knock them down wanting to play. When we walk on a leash, he wants to meet every person he sees and will pull toward them. He's very friendly, with full-body wags and kisses! I so love this guy, but my old dog needs his golden years peaceful. The puppy just wants to play, he's not aggressive, but he's relentless in hopping around and prodding the old guy to play. 14 hours a day though, he just wants to snuggle, but those two or three hours he wants to play, he's very energetic and comical. He's fine with other dogs, if they will play with him, he meets all new dogs tail wagging, but he does not show submission. He's very protective of our family and is concerned when anyone leaves, looking out the window. He's a got a deep enough bark to ward off any would-be prowlers, and is keen to any disturbance. Rehoming fee is $200, including his brand new kennel, bed, and leash, plus all vet records, rabies tag, and microchip info to register. Vet: Hoover Animal Clinic and Birmingham Humane Society.
