OAK FOREST, IL — A 21-year-old woman who was shot and killed by police in Oak Forest Sunday was suffering from a mental health crisis, family members told reporters.
Ketura Wilson's family met state police Sunday after being called to Oak Forest where police said Wilson had a handgun. According to Wilson's mother, the woman was asking those around her to call the police.

A balloon release in memory of Wilson is being held Thursday in Lansing. Family and friends of the woman, who police said shot at officers inside a Food 4 Less store, said the event is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at Lan Oak Park.
Police said an officer was seriously injured in the shooting and remains in serious condition at a local hospital.
