Description

Press release from City of Fremont: In August 2021, the City launched the Afghan Refugee Help (ARHelp) fund to aid refugees in our community as they get settled. We are proud to share that the fund has raised $442,000 from over 1,000 donors in 40 states as of February 28, 2022. To date, 19 organizations and five individual families were granted more than $310,000 to support emergency needs such as legal fees, clothing, food, furniture, and shelter. The ARHelp Fund has also helped organizations hire additional staff who speak Dari and Pashtu and provided cell phones for those who had to discard theirs while fleeing Afghanistan. In addition, the City has distributed grants for after-school care, culturally appropriate food, and much more. For more information about the future of the fund and to view the six-month report, visit our webpage. This press release was produced by City of Fremont.
