15th Annual Prom on the Pitch Annual Fundraiser for Battered Women’s Shelter of Summit & Medina Counties & The Andrea Rose Foundation Akron, Ohio - Akron Women’s Rugby Team will host their 15th annual Prom on the Pitch on Saturday, May 14th, 2022 in one jam packed day where you can watch the silk and taffeta fly! Prom on the Pitch is an annual fundraiser for the Battered Women’s Shelter of Summit & Medina Counties. Matches run from 11am until 4 p.m. at the Akron Rugby Pitch, 1763 Wadsworth Road, Copley, Ohio. This year FIVE women’s teams play will battle it out in a 10’s style game, with a special part of the game being dedicated to the women donning vintage dresses to play in. Appearances will be from the Akron, Fort Wayne, Rochester, Toledo, and Cleveland Women’s Rugby teams! Come experience this unique event where tackle meets taffeta as this will be a sight not to missed and with plenty of great photo opportunities! The teams are raising funds and donated items for the shelter throughout the game. Along with monetary donations or gift cards, the shelter is seeking the following items which due to the COVID-19 Pandemic can be purchased through their Amazon Wish List. Families are welcome to attend, and admission is free, although donations are being accepted for parking. Concessions will be on site. All are welcome to bring lawn chairs or blankets and participate in the social following the last match. The teams will also be collecting gently used formal dresses, jewelry, and shoes for the Andrea Rose Teodosio Foundation.
