The newest member of the Cass County Sheriff's Department is Kota! Kota is an 18-month old German Shepard and will be heading to Iowa with his handler, Deputy Glenn Manning, in April to starting training together. After four weeks of training (mainly for Deputy Manning), Kota and Deputy Manning will be ready to serve.
Over 2,100 votes were received from community throughout the naming process and only 50 votes separated the top three names. Thank you to Scheels for their partnership throughout this process and their dedication to keeping the community safe. The addition of Deputy Kota will help the Sheriff's Department in various areas like narcotics, apprehension, or criminal tracking.
