Description
CARTERSVILLE, GA — The Booth Western Art Museum has topped USA Today's 10Best Reader's Choice Awards in its category for a third straight year.
The Cartersville museum is ranked first among Best Art Museums in the U.S. in 2022, again edging out museums in much larger cities. The only museum on the list in a town smaller than Cartersville is in Eastport, Maine.
Winners were chosen by popular vote from a list of nominees compiled by experts and USA Today 10Best editors, with results announced on March 25. The Booth topped USA Today's same list in 2020 and 2021.
"I am once again overwhelmed by the passion, loyalty and enthusiasm shown by the staff, volunteers, members, donors, artists and everyone associated with the Booth in helping us win this award for the third straight year," museum executive director Seth Hopkins said in a news release. "We were shocked that we won in 2020, amazed that we repeated in 2021, and now we are thrilled to three-peat."
According to the museum's website, Cartersville is the smallest U.S. city with two Smithsonian Affiliate Museums, the Booth museum and the Tellus Science Museum. The Booth houses the largest permanent exhibition of Western American art in the nation.
