Meet Franco! He's an extremely smart, healthy and happy dog (approx 4 years old) but still has the energy and athleticism of a pup! He needs a bestie type of ride or die friend who ideally doesn't have other pets, or even children taking up his much needed attention -- although he is great with both, he just requires ALL of the attention and wants to play fetch tirelessly until he decides to keep the ball for himself. He loves walks and windows-down car-rides but can sometimes get a little anxious when he sees a small wild animal and you betcha he will chase it! In fact, he's an ideal hunting and fishing buddy and will even retrieve or catch small game for you. Unfortunately, we had to move due to our rental home being sold this spring, and our current lease does not allow us to keep him :( We are working with our family temporarily to help with fostering but again, he needs a full-time friend to hang out with, and to entertain. We'd like to see him go to the right home and the re-homing fee is negotiable, provided we can have an idea of the type of situation he'll be entering. He'll likely need a large yard with a fence to roam and play during the day and a foot of the bed to lay over your feet at night. He makes for a great foot warmer by the way! But he is also kennel /crate trained. As well as house-trained. He knows when to go to the door and will signal you when it's time to go outside. He's protective, but not at all mean or vicious. He is gentle yet playful with cats and kiddos. Because he's solid and can clothesline a regular sized human simply by running too fast, I'd recommend he not be left unattended with small children because his "play" is more like NFL style play. With other dogs, he is usually pretty approachable unless they're barking at him or his human(s). Depending on the dog, he can sometimes "act" big and tough but usually only when he thinks there's a risk of harm. Overall, he's pretty darn awesome though!! We will provide an XL crate /kennel, collar, leash and some starter food.
