Description

I saw the post I have attached below and wanted to make sure everyone who owns or works with birds is aware! Although this happened in New York, the Colorado State Veterinarian’s Office is asking all poultry and bird owners to increase their biosecurity practices to keep the disease out of our domestic poultry in Colorado. Please tell anyone you know with Chickens, Ducks, Geese, Quail, Pheasants & Turkeys to cover their runs. Learn more about the avian flu here: [Avian Flu](https://ag.colorado.gov/animals/reportable-diseases/avian-influenza) [Highly Pathogenic Avian Flu PDF](https://drive.google.com/file/d/1LexuBgNnnKwx1EG0HDiSq6VlFAg6ZzfX/view) Please also visit USDA’s Defend the Flock Program to for in depth information about which biosecurity practices can keep your birds safe here: [Flock Defender Program](https://www.aphis.usda.gov/aphis/ourfocus/animalhealth/animal-disease-information/avian/defend-the-flock-program/defend-the-flock-program) REPOST: “Some people may have heard the Bird Flu is in Monroe County, NY. Unfortunately, the farm you're hearing about on the news is our farm. The HPAI is spread from migratory birds flying above and their droppings falling into people's flocks. It only takes a dime sized particle to kill an entire flock. The Federal & State Government came and euthanized every bird on our farm that wasn't already dead from the flu even if they tested negative for the virus. Be careful, this virus is real. We made a video to show how our set up was, which birds got infected (due to their runs being uncovered), which birds weren’t infected (due to their runs being covered) and how it was handled by government officials. The video includes the euthanasia of our flock so I do want to give everyone a warning before viewing. Please tell anyone you know with Chickens, Ducks, Geese, Quail, Pheasants & Turkey to cover their runs.
