If you answered YES, then the Commercial Fishing Apprenticeship Program may be your perfect opportunity to get a reliable and good paying job on board a commercial fishing vessel in Rhode Island! We will give you all the training and experience that you need to better your skills and make you an excellent candidate for this exciting and rewarding position! For more information, application, and any questions please visit: Access the application here: Application due May 1st, 2022 WHAT DOES THE PROGRAM INCLUDE AND PROVIDE? - Commitment of full month-long program: May 31st - June 24th, 2022 - Daily one-hour lunch break with $15 stipend - Offer 3 days at sea on vessels - get to select 2 types of fishing experiences (trawling, lobstering, gillnetting, dredging, charter boat, shellfishing) - We will provide all necessary gear - We will provide all course material and books - Upon completion of month-long program participants will receive a $1000 stipend - Support from CFCRI for employment placement onto RI fishing vessels WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE IN CFAP? - Must be ages 18+ - Must have driver’s license and reliable form of transportation - Must pass background check and drug test - Must be willing to commit to full month of training - MOST IMPORTANTLY, must be interested in making a career in commercial fishing!
