Description
On Sunday, April 3rd, while inside this particular CVS store, I was bitten on the face by a customer's dog. Being a dog person, I'm drawn to them. I approached the owner's cart, where the unleashed apparent black cockapoo had been placed, the pup wagged his tail and placed his front paws on my chest and began licking my face. Without warning, he bit the left side of my nose and put a gash under my inner left eye. I was traumatized of course. Another customer gave me tissues to stop the surprising amount of blood that was pouring down my face. The dog's owner was apologetic of course. I regrettably failed to get her information as I was startled and needed to get home and clean myself up. She has my phone number but she has made NO attempt to reach out to me, not surprisingly. I'm receiving medical care, I have a 3rd doctor's appointment today, I've been sent to the E.R. because of concerns of sepsis activity, and I have until the end of the day to decide on whether to go through a rabies vaccine protocol due to the dog being an "unknown dog". CVS has video surveillance of the entire incident, and the dog owner is a regular customer there, as she stated that she "brings her dog in there all the time because everyone there loves him." CVS employees witnessed me speaking with the dog owner, as I held many blood-covered tissues to my face. I made direct eye contact with what I assume to be the assistant manager; she simply looked at me then continued straightening carts. I've been told by one of the assistant managers at CVS that they cannot ask her if her pet is a service animal (which I doubt) nor can they ask her to not bring the animal inside. CVS corporate has not returned a single phone call or email I have sent them--none of the 5 attempts I've made. I know what the dog's owner looks like, I know what this woman drives, and I know the dog's name is Pepper. I've never been bitten by any animal. This is very distressing. I don't know what to do or where to turn. And please--I don't need to be blasted for petting an animal that looked and acted extremely friendly.
