CCC MUSIC PROGRAMS The Music Department at CCC offers something for everyone, and students have the opportunity to learn from and network with professional Portland-area musicians. Our Music A.S. transfer degree prepares classical and jazz students to move on to a 4-year university. Here, students will take core academic courses such as music theory, aural skills, keyboard skills, and music notation. This affordable option is perfect for aspiring composers, conductors, music educators, and professional performers. Our Music Performance and Technology A.A.S. degree prepares students for a career in the music business. With a focus on writing, performing, and recording music, students will learn the fundamentals of reading music, work hands-on in the recording studio, and learn the music business from professional working musicians. The Music Technology C.C. is a one-year certificate that prepares students for a career in music production. Developed for aspiring audio engineers and recording artists, students in the tech program will learn hands-on in our recording studio and MIDI lab, utilizing industry standard software and equipment. Internships at the end of the program connect students with industry pros for real-life job experience and networking. Individual instrumental and vocal lessons connect students with top Portland-area professionals. Our instructors are working musicians and can be found at top jazz venues, professional choirs, Oregon Symphony, Oregon Ballet Theater, and performing with many celebrity touring acts that travel through Portland.
