Description

The Banjo Gathering! Calling all banjo enthusiasts! Join the charismatic songster and modern-day bluesman, Jerron Paxton, along with local favorites, John Gawler and Bennett Konesni, for an afternoon banjo workshop. Brought to America by enslaved Africans, the banjo became popular with European immigrants, creating several banjo traditions that are uniquely American, from clawhammer to two-finger, three-finger, jazz, and ragtime styles. Here is a rare chance to see and hear different types of banjos and learn more about how they are traditionally played. Bring your own banjo and learn a tune or two, or try out some banjos that will be on site. - This concert series is sponsored by: Bar Harbor Bank & Trust, The Britton Fund, Fair Tide Fund, Mary & Rich Howe, Pat & David Nelson, Prior Family Foundation, Joann & Scott Thurston, Tradewinds Marketplace, Holly & George "Woody" Wood, and WERU. About the concert series: Bagaduce Music presents From our Collection 2022, “Unexpected Music in Unexpected Places”. FOC2022 highlights unique features of Bagaduce Music’s treasure trove of printed music. Join us for Season Three of this exciting and diverse musical programming.
