A tour of climate smart forestry in Oregon lead by and Forest Stewardship Council with Turner Construction Company You are invited to join Turner Construction Company and Forest Stewardship Council on a tour of climate smart forestry in Oregon. Designed for architects, engineers and developers, the tour will emphasize how forests can be managed to maximize carbon storage, protect biodiversity and reduce the risk of disease and wildfire. Industry experts from FSC, Sustainable Northwest Wood and more will help provide a visual on what FSC forestry looks like, as well as insight into what climate smart forestry can mean to people specifying wood in their buildings. The tour will visit Hyla Woods, an EFM forest near the Oregon coast, and review how FSC forestry practices differ from conventional industrial management practices. The approximate itinerary is as follows: Tour Schedule • 7:00am - Meet in Portland at Sustainable Northwest Wood. • 8:30am - arrive at Hyla Woods • 11:00am - Travel to coast; stop to see intensive management example • 1:30pm - Arrive EFM Forest • 4:00pm - Depart EFM forest • 6:00pm - Arrive back in Portland; end of tour Coffee, box lunches, drinks and snacks will be provided. There will be an optional happy hour at the end of the tour. Questions? However, it is advised to not leave any visible items of value in the car. Day of Attire Comfortable walking clothes. Rain jacket. Boots/closed tow shoes that can get muddy.
