Celebrate Global Youth Service Day by participating in a restoration event at Dirksen Nature Park with Tualatin Riverkeepers! Tualatin Riverkeepers (TRK) is a community-based nonprofit working to protect, restore, and enjoy the Tualatin River watershed by promoting environmental stewardship, and we LOVE when our community volunteers with us! Join Tualatin Riverkeepers and the City of Tigard for a woodchipping event at Dirksen Nature Park to celebrate Global Youth Service Day. We are honored that Youth Councilor Aishiki Nag will be helping us lead this event. As Youth Councilor, her goals include promoting civic engagement amongst youth and highlighting underrepresented voices. Global Youth Service Day will be a great way to empower the next generation of watershed stewards in our community. If you are between the ages of 15-24, then this is the volunteer event for you! Before we begin woodchipping the nature trail, we will spend the first 30 minutes reviewing a brief history of Tualatin Riverkeepers, why volunteer service is so important, and how our future leaders can help the Tualatin River watershed become more climate-resilient in the face of climate change. Snacks will be provided for all registered attendees. We will meet under the tree in front of the Dirksen Nature Center. Parking is very limited, and while there is street parking available, we encourage carpooling for those that have the option to do. Outdoor volunteer events will happen rain or shine. Please wear comfortable clothes that you aren't afraid to get dirty. All supplies will be provided. Note: If you plug Dirksen Nature Park into maps, it will take you to the other side of the park.
