Starting upper NYC based blues/rock band

New York City NY

Description

40 y.o. male NYer with 20 years experience looking to start something new and eventually start gigging around the area. I play guitar, steel, (damn good at those two), bass, some keys/harp/drums. Also a pretty good singer. I have a f/t job and new family, but would like to put together a band that can fit into that lifestyle, and play out on the weekends and the odd weekday when it works out, and really really REALLY rock when we do. I have a place that can accommodate stripped down jams. Looking for guitar, bass, drums (players who can sing and multi instrumentalists are cool). Wide ranging influences: Stones, Allmans, Dead, ZZ top, Janis, surf rock, blues rock, old country... I also love lots of more modern influences (punk, metal etc) but I'm envisioning this band will be a little more roots-oriented. Would probably play mostly covers with a healthy dose of originals. A mix of crowd pleasers, band pleasers, and songs that don't take f*ing forever to learn bc who has time for that at this age? Some straight blues/surf/honky tonk numbers for those sets that need filling out. Would love for this to eventually be a band that can fill a 3 set bill and not sweat it too much because we have it under our fingers. And eventually make enough money that it's worth our while to play this kind of gig. Please don't reply if you're that sweaty alcoholic close talker with bad breath at the jam. Realistic? Who knows, but reach out if you're interested!
