Decorate unglazed clay objects by burning wrappings around the objects.
Load a 55 gallon barrel with straw, sawdust, newspaper and other combustibles, before packing “prepared” clay objects into the barrel
and lighting a fire in the barrel. Objects are not glazed but “prepared” by wrapping a variety of materials such as banana skins, wire, cloth and other materials around each object. Once removed after 4 – 5 hours in the fire and 24 hours cooling, each clay object bears unique “colorations” of those materials fired into the clay as an alternative to firing with glazes at much higher temperatures.
