Description

A peek into ‘oṭṭoy--a blossoming iteration of Cafe Ohlone at the Hearst Museum of Anthropology Join us for a preview of ‘oṭṭoy—a healing collaboration between Cafe Ohlone and the Hearst Museum. For the past year, Cafe Ohlone and UC Berkeley have worked together in collaboration with the world-class design firm Terremoto to craft a vision that is wholly Ohlone and reflective of the Ohlone people and the landscape they have inhabited for thousands of years. Through in-depth conversations with the Ohlone community and a process of mutual respect, the vision is being realized in the redesign of the open-air Hearst courtyard into a “love song to Ohlone culture.” ‘oṭṭoy will officially open later this spring; on April 23 between 4 and 7 PM, in conjunction with Cal Day, we are pleased to offer ticketed guests a peek into the installation in progress. Attendees will receive a guided tour of the space with Cafe Ohlone co-founders Vincent Medina and Louis Trevino, followed by a taste of the delicious cuisine that Cafe Ohlone is known for. Each tour and tasting will last 30 minutes; the food will be served outside the Anthro/Art Practice building @ College and Bancroft.
