The HFLS is proud to host a conversation with Professor Kevin Gannon on U.S. history and Ava DuVernay's 2016 award winning film 13th. Join us in an engaging conversation with Professor Gannon as we discuss critical ways to engage what he has described as the gap between history and reality. Featured as a subject matter expert in 13th, Kevin Gannon is a Professor of History at Grand View University in Des Moines, Iowa where his work centers on critical and inclusive pedagogy: race, history, and justice; and technology and teaching. Gannon is the author of Radical Hope: A Teaching Manifesto and is currently writing a textbook for the U.S. Civil War and Reconstruction era.
