One Killed When Freight Train Hits Car In Piscataway

PISCATAWAY, NJ — A car was struck by a freight train late Thursday night in Piscataway, and a passenger in the car was killed, said the Middlesex County prosecutor. The car had driven through a railroad crossing at the intersection of New Brunswick Avenue and Tyler Place, said Piscataway police and the county prosecutor. The prosecutor did not yet answer when asked if the signal bars were down at the time. The car's passenger was pronounced dead at the scene and the driver was transported to a local hospital.
