PISCATAWAY, NJ — A Piscataway teen who drove under and around a railroad crossing when the emergency lights were activated has now been criminally charged with aggravated manslaughter and vehicular homicide, as police say he caused the death of his male passenger. The tragedy happened on November 19 of this year, when the teen attempted to drive through a railroad crossing at the intersection of New Brunswick Avenue and Tyler Place, said the Middlesex County Prosecutor. A passenger in the car, another teen, was pronounced dead at the scene. Both teens, the passenger and driver, were students at Piscataway High School, NJ.com reported. On Friday, Dec. 18 Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Piscataway police announced that the teen driver was criminally charged with the fatal collision. The male juvenile was charged with aggravated manslaughter, vehicular homicide, causing a death while driving unlicensed and aggravated assault.
