A class to explore creative writing as a tool to build a self-narrative with the intention of shaping it into some form of written art.
This class is one in a series designed for seekers to explore creative writing as a tool to build a self-narrative with the intention of shaping it into some form of written art: A poem, poetric prose or a creative non-fiction piece. And, of course, to gather and have fun. We’ll use meditation and herbal tea to help quiet the inner critic.
Kate DiCamillo said “Life is chaos and art is pattern,” and the goal of this series is to learn a few poetic techniques that will allow for the transformation of personal experience into meaningful pattern, regardless of what form it ends up in. Writing helps provide us with choice through the act of discovering and making new connections, many times about who it’s possible for us to be/come.
The first element focuses on what it means to look back through lens of loss, specifically the idea that our lives veered away from some hoped for or assumed predestined point – and how to write away from that narrative and say goodbye, leaving an opening for something new.
