Two programs to respectively provide young men with regarding male responsibilities and to share the importance of higher education. The Columbia County brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha, Inc. Tau Epsilon Chapter invite you to register your son(s) between the ages of 12 to 15 to participate in Project Alpha and Go To High School, Go To College. These are two collaborative workshops designed to provide education, motivation, skill-building on issues of responsibility in relationships and opportunities around pursuing higher education. These workshops will be held at the Columbia County Library on April 30, 2022. We will provide snacks and lunch for participants. Pre-registration preferred but on-site will be an option; however, space may be limited. Parent / Guardian consent is required for participation in Project Alpha. Project Alpha (9AM to 2PM) | PROJECT ALPHA Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and the March of Dimes Birth Defects Foundation began collaboratively implementing Project Alpha in 1980. This program designed to provide young men ages 12-18 with current and accurate information about male responsibilities and teen pregnancy prevention through a series of workshops and informational sessions conducted by Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity brothers. The three goals of Project Alpha programs are: Sharing Knowledge by combating ignorance and fear with factual information.Changing Attitudes by providing motivation toward positive changes in sexual behavior.Providing Skills by creating a sense of empowerment and self-esteem.The Project Alpha curriculum focuses on five key topics: Responsibility, Respect and the Role of Males in RelationshipsAdolescent Pregnancy and FatherhoodProtecting Yourself and Your PartnerSexually Transmitted DiseasesIntimate Violence in Relationships Go-to-High-School, Go-to-College (2PM to 5PM) | GO TO HIGH SCHOOL, GO TO COLLEGE Established in 1922, concentrates on the importance of completing secondary and collegiate education as a road to advancement. Through the Go-to-High-School, Go-to-College educational initiative, young men ages 15 - 18 receive information and learn strategies that facilitate success.
