Description

Are you a new gardener in Tucson? Then this hands on workshop is for you! We will explore the various garden options for the Sonoran Desert. SAGE Workshop Where Do I Begin? Successful Gardening in the Sonoran Desert is now open for registration. Join the Pima County Master Gardeners on Saturday, April 23, 8:30am to 10:30am to learn about the gardening opportunities and challenges of our unique desert environment. This workshop will focus on creating zones in our landscapes: oasis, transitional, and arid. Also included: soil, irrigation, orientation, edibles, seasonal flowers, trees, and natives plants. We will be drawing (both literally and figuratively) inspiration from the Master Gardener Demonstration Garden. To prepare for the workshop, we are asking participants to bring a basic line drawing of your house, garden areas, balcony or porch, yard, etc. Please include north-south-east-west on your drawing. Include as much detail as you would like - large trees, walls, neighbors houses, etc. You can use programs like Google Earth and Google Maps to create this if that is easy for you. This workshop is suitable for gardeners brand new to the desert, those looking for inspiration, and those simply wanting a better plan for their space, be it large or small. Please bring a hat and water bottle. Come early to enjoy complimentary coffee in the gardens.
