Description
NORTHPORT, NY — Dilly, a 1-year-old female calico, was named the Northport Cat Rescue Association's Cat of the Week.
Dilly was found all alone after being abandoned at an apartment complex in Brooklyn, said Lora Wild, a volunteer with the rescue.
"She was frightened, cold and hungry," Wild said. "When she was rescued, we could tell she was definitely someone's pet at one time because she was so sweet and craved human attention. We brought her into our rescue and she is currently in our habitats in Commack, where our volunteers have been given her lots of TLC and have fallen in love with her."
Dilly was frightened and timid for the first few days and hid her head under her blanket and scratch post, according to Wild.
"She is coming out of her shell now and loves to be pet and will start purring like a machine when you touch her. She loves to be brushed, almost as if she knows she needed it because she is so beautiful, and perhaps she felt neglected for so long. Dilly needs attention and is craving it. For a cat that was dumped and left behind, this little girl is letting her walls down and showing the world how worthy she is of a loving home. She belongs inside, safe and sound forever."
