NEW CITY, NY — After a winter indoors and two years of coronavirus, everyone could use some revitalizing, and there are several upcoming ways to do that at Cropsey Community Farm. "As the growing season is coming up upon us, we are excited to host a few events to get started this spring and we are eager to invite you to them!" said Sue Ferreri, Executive Director of the Rockland Farm Alliance. First up is the farm's first-ever Earth Day event. Spend all or part of the day taking in the fresh air, reconnecting with nature, working with your hands and rebuilding community. It will be an opportunity to meet the farm team as well as fellow volunteers, and to help prepare the flower garden for the season ahead. Tasks will entail some shoveling, raking and weeding to prep the beds, and moving wood chips and spreading them out to create pathways. We have tools at the farm, but please make sure you come prepared with sturdy shoes, water, sunscreen, some lunch, or anything else you may need, Ferreri said. "We do ask that a mask is worn when going into any of the buildings so have one handy should you need to use any of the facilities." The event will run from 9:30 a.m. until 4 p.m., so you can come by anytime! Send an email to [email protected] to let them know you are coming, or if you have any questions. This year the farmers market will run June 11 to Oct. 29.
