HARLEM, NY — A man pummeled another man with a brick on a Harlem street last week after a confrontation about package thefts, according to police.
The broad-daylight assault unfolded around 3 p.m. Thursday near the corner of West 132nd Street and Adam Clayton Powell, Jr. Boulevard.
The 60-year-old victim, who lives nearby, had confronted a woman in his building's lobby who he believed had been stealing packages, the New York Post first reported. Soon after, the woman returned with two other people, including a man who ran up to the victim from behind and smacked him in the head with the brick.
Video released by police shows the assailant punching the victim repeatedly in the middle of the street. After about 10 seconds, the victim manages to stand up and appears to have heated words with the attacker and a woman who arrived during the assault.

(NYPD)The man was ultimately taken to Harlem Hospital for severe lacerations to the head, where he was in stable condition. The suspect walked south along Adam Clayton Powell, Jr. Boulevard after the assault, police said.
