Press release from the City and County of Broomfield: November 18, 2020 With a unanimous vote of City Council, the City and County of Broomfield is excited to welcome Nancy Rodgers as the new City and County Attorney, who will start on December 30, 2020. Rodgers comes from the City of Aurora serving as Deputy City Attorney, acting as the manager for the office's Public Safety and Litigation team and one of the police legal advisors. In her current role, she is responsible for the supervision of the office's civil litigators, and those attorneys assigned to police, fire, dispatch, and other city departments focused on public safety. She oversees most of the City's litigation, including managing outside counsel. As deputy, she is active in day-to-day management of the civil division for the City Attorney's office. As police legal advisor, Ms. Rodgers works covers the police department's operation, including policies and procedures, personnel issues, critical incident response, community relations, and equipment acquisition. She conducts legal research and training on a variety of public safety issues for the City, including briefing relevant court cases and legislative actions affecting law enforcement. As police legal advisor, Ms. Rodgers provides regular legal advice to the police department on operational issues, policies, personnel matters, critical incident response, and equipment acquisition. She regularly works with Aurora's elected officials on public safety issues and police reform measures. Prior to joining the City of Aurora in 2015, Nancy was a partner with Kissinger & Fellman, P.C., representing both public and private entities. She specialized in employment law, local government law, civil litigation, telecommunications law, and transportation law. The City and County Attorney position will become vacant on December 1, 2020, after current City and County Attorney Shaun Sullivan retires.
