HOBOKEN, NJ —The city of Hoboken is inviting residents to see and discuss proposed alternative plans for the final design of a Hoboken Municipal Complex on 15th Street, based on feedback from the last meeting on March 16 and from an on-line survey. The plan would involve building a new municipal garage, public safety complex, library branch, and community center near the city's northern border. There has been some controversy, as the owner of the longtime Poggi Press business, currently on that site, has opposed the idea of the city taking his land by eminent domain. The city has said that the complex is much needed to replace outdated facilities. The in-person meeting will be held tonight (Monday, April 4) from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Fox Hills, the senior building at 311 13th St. The city said, "The city and project consultants will review proposed alternatives for the final design of the Hoboken Municipal Complex based on the community feedback submitted during the first community meeting on March 16 and an online public survey." "The complex is envisioned to upgrade Hoboken's outdated police and fire headquarters and department of public works garage into one, centralized facility, that could also provide community amenities including recreation facilities and an uptown branch of the Hoboken Public Library."
