Hey, neighbors! Jeri Karges here with a fresh copy of theSacramento Daily. First, today's weather: Mostly sunny and pleasant. High: 76 Low: 50. Here are the top five stories in Sacramento today: The Sacramento County Coroner's Office on Monday identified the victims of Sunday's mass shooting that killed six. The women shot and killed were identified as Johntaya Alexander, 21; Melinda Davis, 57; and Yamile Martinez-Andrade, 21. The men were identified as Sergio Harris, 38; Joshua Hoye-Lucchesi, 32; and DeVazia Turner, 29. Mourners created a makeshift memorial to remember the victims, KTVU reported. Sacramento City Council candidate Caity Maple launched a GoFundMe account to raise money for the victims. A 26-year-old man who police said was arrested in connection with the mass shooting early in downtown Sacramento is not facing arrest related to any homicides during the shooting, prosecutors said. Dandrae Martin was booked on assault and gun charges after the shooting, which also left 12 people wounded, with injuries ranging from minor to critical but stable, police said Monday. "Right now that's really all we're able to share about him," Police Chief Kathy Lester told KCRA-TV. "As you know this is a complex investigation and we're looking for multiple suspects and so we're currently working to identify what his role was the night of the shooting." The Sacramento City Unified School District reached a deal with labor unions, putting an end to a strike that's kept kids out of school for over a week. The deal comes after the strike had reached day eight on Friday. Both the district and unions were kept at odds due to issues surrounding better pay, benefits and staffing. Full details of the agreements will be released after review from union members. (ABC10) A Sacramento-area startup that helps consumers buy electric vehicles took top honors at Pitch Elk Grove, the city's first-ever startup business pitch competition. The contest, co-presented by Startup Elk Grove, Elk Grove's startup incentive program, and local startup accelerator StartupSac, was a showcase of emerging local entrepreneurs and homegrown technologies. Folsom-based EV Life squared off against seven other Sacramento-area startup companies Thursday at Elk Grove's District 56, winning the competition's $10,000 first prize. EV Life finds applicable subsidies from across the country then offers climate loans to buyers to offset the often high upfront costs of electric vehicles. (Sacramento Bee via MSN)Following a vote by the City Council last month to pay off and close a temporary line of credit, the City of Citrus Heights announced Friday that it is now debt-free again. The city had long-taken pride in its "pay as you go" philosophy under longtime City Manager Henry Tingle who has been credited with keeping the city out of debt until his retirement in 2016. But two years later, the city made the controversial decision under then-City Manager Christopher Boyd to open a $12 million line of credit as a temporary measure to help the city "get by" until property tax revenues began being received. Several council members offered brief comments in support of the March 24 motion to pay off the debt early, and the motion received unanimous support from all five council members.
