PENN HILLS, PA —An auto dealership has been banned from selling vehicles in Pennsylvania after being found to have violated consumer protection laws. Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro's office announced Monday that Martino Motors and owner Donald J. Martino no longer will be permitted to sell cars. The move comes after Shapiro announced in February that Martino's Rodi Road dealership sold one vehicle whose brakes failed shortly thereafter and another where parts that were rusted and covered in duct tape but painted over to appear normal. "Martino Motors agreed to play by the rules," said AG Shapiro. "The ones that every dealership in Pennsylvania have to abide by. But when demand went up, Martino Motors hit reverse and returned to the predatory ways in order to make a quick buck at the expense of hard working Pennsylvanians." According to Shapiro's office, Martino Motors advertisements for vehicles often didn't align with their vehicles' physical condition. Consumers who purchased cars from Martino Motors found that the cars didn't stay operable for long and that serious problems quickly made themselves known.
