WESTLAKE, OH — A concerned driver noticed a potentially stolen car on I-90 last week in Westlake.
At 9 p.m. on March 27, a driver called 911 and said they were behind a potentially stolen car on I-90 near Clague Road. The car they were following had no license plate and the back window was shattered.
Police stopped the described car near Bradley Road. The driver was a 23-year-old from Cleveland. There was also a 25-year-old Clevelander riding passenger in the car, police said.
The passenger side of the car was badly damaged, according to police, and the driver did not have a valid license. There was also a handgun under one of the car seats, police noted.
Officers searched the car and found two guns in the vehicle, according to a Westlake Police spokesperson. One of the guns was reported stolen from a Lorain resident. Both the driver and passenger were also barred from owning guns due to previous felony convictions.
Both the driver and passenger were taken into custody and taken to Westlake Jail. Police then found suspected crack cocaine, heroin and cannabis inside the car.
Both the driver and passenger face charges of having weapons under disability and possession of stolen property and could face charges for felony drug possession, pending lab analysis.
