MORRISTOWN, NJ—The Morris School District announced a positive Conronavirus case at Hillcrest Elementary School in a statement on Monday. The case comes after a positive test was reported at a preschool affiliate over the weekend. "The individual in question has not been present in the school since last Wednesday, September 9, 2020," said the district's statement, "and contact tracing has determined that the source of transmission to this individual was unrelated to our school or the Morris School District." The district said everyone determined to have contact with the person would quarantine for 14 days. The statement added that no one who had contact with the person has reported any symptoms. Hillcrest Elementary has been cleaned and disinfected, and the district said the school continues to utilize safety measures, such as mask wearing, social distancing, and hand sanitizing. The Morris School District is conducting 5 days of 4-hour instruction for elementary students and a 50/50 hybrid model for middle and high school students this fall. About 20 percent of the district's 5,000 students elected to attend all-remote school. The Hillcrest announcement comes a day after the Morris district said there was a positive case of Conronavirus at Neighborhood House, a local preschool. Those potentially exposed at the preschool are quarantining for 14 days and no one else has reported symptoms. "The status of this situation is fluid," the district said on Monday, "and we are monitoring it closely."
