ATLANTA, GA — A man was killed after he fell on the tracks and was struck by a train at the Midtown MARTA station Tuesday morning, according to an Atlanta Journal-Constitution report. The man fell off the platform and was hit on the southbound tracks around 7:40 a.m. He is still trapped and his body must be extricated, according to the report. Train service was temporarily terminated at Civic Center for northbound trains and at Lindbergh Center for southbound trains. MARTA announced around 10:30 a.m. that both southbound and northbound trains are boarding from the northbound platform at Arts Center, Midtown and North Avenue stations. A bus bridge is running from Civic Center to Lindbergh Center, officials said. Both directions opened to trains shortly after noon, but as of 1:30 p.m., single tracking was in effect on the southbound lane at the Midtown and North Avenue stations because of a mechanical issue, according to MARTA. This story is being updated.
