Morris County Man Shoved Onto Tracks, Crawled Off To Escape Train

MORRIS COUNTY, NJ - A 57-year-old East Orange man was arrested and charged with assault after shoving a Lake Hiawatha man on to the tracks at the Dover Train Station last December, according to the NJ Transit Police. According to authorities, the victim was assisting another customer with the ticket vending machine as he awaited the train to Morristown when a man approached and demanded he get out of his way. The victim refused, stating the man had enough room to get around him and the man then pushed the victim twice, the second time onto the tracks, the victim told police. As the victim was on the track, a train approached. The victim crawled towards the other track and under a platform, where bystanders helped him up, police said. Dover police and EMS responded and took him to the hospital, where he was treated for nine broken ribs, the victim told NJ TRANSIT police. Following an investigation, NJTPD Detective Ruben Mendez arrested Paul E. Stewart, on June 26. Stewart, who is being held at the Morris County jail, has been charged with second-degree aggravated assault, authorities said. Thanks for reading!
