Got a neighbor with a dog that just won't stop barking every day? Well unfortunately I have bad news for you. I've been battling one neighbor behind me for years over this, and last summer I finally complained to city hall. They sent out an abatement letter. Dog's barking continued. I complained again. The city sent out a 2nd abatement letter. This time it 'kinda' worked. The barking was less, but I knew it wouldn't last, so last week I complained again. Now the city wants me to engage in "mediation" with this jerk neighbor. We've had lots of other problems with them, the dog noise is just the latest. So mediation is not gonna work here - that's just gonna end up in a shouting match. The city used to send out a sheriff-dept related "public safety officer" to go to owners' doors and discuss the situation. And they also used to threaten dog owners with various fines. No more. Now all they do is send out letters and offer mediation to the involved parties. No suggestion of any fines in relation to violating public nuisance laws, or the local noise ordinance, so, if you, like me, can't stand dogs because they just will not shut up, and their owners don't gaf, you're pretty much out of luck if you have a rotten neighbor who won't cooperate. You'll have to talk to an attorney and see about suing the idiots. Or continue to bicker back and forth with em, living with hellish stress every day. God damn dog owners, YOU SUCK!
