Gov. Jared Polis has urged Coloradans to go out into nature, where "social distancing" can be adhered to, and hikers have taken that advice — many trails in the state have seen a surge of visitors. Parks officials are also encouraging people to be outdoors, but have issued guidelines for hikers. Do not visit parks if you're sick — stay home and help protect others.Announce your presence to others to help maintain the recommended six feet of social distance. Make sure you call out or ring a bell when passing others.Bring your own hand sanitizer and exercise caution in public restrooms.If a parking lot is full, move on to another park or trailhead.Don't organize large group gatherings.Frequently clean and disinfect any shared hiking, climbing or sporting equipment.Don't miss the latest coronavirus updates from health and government officials in Colorado.
