BOULDER, CO — The 2020 Creative Neighborhoods Mural Program has been launched in Boulder, the city announced Tuesday. The initiative will support new artwork commissions on residential properties throughout Boulder. The program will focus on sites in east Boulder, southeast Boulder, University Hill and Gunbarrel, the city said. The program is a partnership between homeowners and artists to create murals that are visible from public paths and streets, the city said. Once a site is determined, the design will be a feature in the community for at least five years. The deadline to apply is July 15. Homeowners with an "available exterior site visible from a public right-of-way" can apply to the mural program, the city said. Selected homeowners will then work with Boulder's Office of Arts and Culture to select an artist from the city-approved Mural Artist Roster to commission a mural. Up to $3,000 will be given to the artist to develop and create the project on the homeowner's property. The total program budget for Creative Neighborhoods is around $25,000, which is funded through the Community Culture and Safety Tax. >> Visit Boulder's Office of Arts and Culture Creative Neighborhoods website to submit applications.
