Chess Tournament (USCF Rated) and Chess For Fun on June 25, 2022 at the Central and Unser Library Location: The Central and Unser Library, 8081 Central Avenue NW, Albuquerque, NM 87121 (abq library org / centralunser) USCF Rated Chess Tournament: “New Mexico G/10 Championship” Sections: Open Prizes: Open section champion; class; biggest upset. Register online at king registration do tc om / event / nmco25jun2022 or on site. USCF Membership is required. Schedule: Six rounds. Rounds will start promptly at 10:50, 11:30, 1:45, 2:20, 2:50, and 3:25. Break for lunch between rounds 2 and 3. Byes are zero points; players are encouraged to play in all rounds. Time Control: Game in 10 minutes with 5-second increment (G/10+5). Notation is NOT required at this time control. Equipment: Please bring your own sets and clocks. A limited number of sets and clocks will be available. Chess for Fun “Chess For Fun” is a no-cost, intentionally unstructured event hosted by New Mexico Chess Organization (nm chess do to rg) Board members and members (New Mexico chess players) will be present so that attendees can have their questions answered, play casual games, review their previously played games, and explore chess-related material, such as openings, variations, tactics, middlegame play, endgame play, puzzles, current events, and history, such as famous players and tournaments. Additional Information: Clubs “Diamondback Chess Club” meets Monday nights from 5:30 pm to about 9:00 pm, where we play USCF-rated tournaments from 6:00 pm to about 9:00 pm. The club meets at Fuddruckers at 4855 Pan American Freeway NE, Albuquerque NM 87109. Time controls vary from G25+5 to G3+2 depending on the week; please see the (f) group for more information. “Coronado Chess Club” meets Wednesday nights from 6:45 to about 9:15 pm at Frontier Restaurant, 2400 Central Avenue SE, Albuquerque NM 87106 and two rounds of game in 30 minutes are played (G/30d0) - playing strength ranges from about 500 to about 2200. COVID Policy: Masks are not required, but they are encouraged. Players are encouraged to clean/sanitize your hands frequently, and to disinfect your chess sets and clocks between rounds. If you feel ill at any point of the tournament, we ask you withdraw immediately (we will issue credit towards a future event on a pro-rated basis), and please do not come into contact with any other participants. We reserve the right to remove you from the tournament if you are visibly ill and if you have not voluntarily withdrawn, your entry fee will be forfeited. If you fail to comply with any of the safety or health directives you may be withdrawn from the event and your entry fee forfeited. The COVID policy is subject to change at a moment’s notice.
