Location: Special Collections Library, 423 Central Ave NE, Albuquerque NM 87102, Saturday May 21, 2022 10:00am to 2:00pm. Chess For Fun is an intentionally unstructured event hosted by the Board of New Mexico Chess Organization (nmchess.org, NMCO), open to the public – all are welcome. The purpose of NMCO is to promote chess in New Mexico. NMCO hosts chess tournaments throughout the calendar year for scholastic ages (kindergarten through twelfth grade) through “older than dirt” (lol) and strives to promote non-tournament-setting chess education. Attendees at Chess For Fun can direct the activity of the event: lessons, game review, casual play, learning/review of openings, opening variations, middlegame play, endgame play, chess history, chess current events, famous players, and famous tournaments are typical topics in chess.
