BOULDER, CO — Repaving, drainage upgrades and utility relocations are underway in Boulder, and the city has released updates for its largest projects. Most of the infrastructure projects are scheduled to be completed by the end of the summer. "We thank the community for your patience during this important work and encourage all travelers to contribute to the safety of our transportation network by going slow, leaving plenty of room for construction workers and following signage," the city said in a public notice. Here are the latest updates: 30th & Colorado Bike and Pedestrian Underpass This project aims to improve safety, accessibility, mobility and drainage in the Colorado Avenue and 30th Street intersection. The project is in the "advanced preparation" stage, and is slated to be completed this summer, city officials said. Utility relocation work is slated to continue through March 2020. Drivers can expect minor delays, with a reduction to one northbound lane on 30th Street, the city said. Flaggers are directing traffic during construction. Utility work be underway overnight on Saturdays and Sundays, and nearby residents may have to put up with construction noise while work is completed, officials said. ADA-compliant ramps The Colorado Department of Transportation will be enhancing or adding ramps in Boulder that are compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act. The ramps will go up at 56 locations on SH 119, CO 7, CO 93, CO 157 and US 36, officials said. The enhancements are part of a statewide, $1.1 million project to improve compliance for those with disabilities. North, south, east and westbound single lane closures are to be expected from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekly until the work wraps up in May. Pedestrians will be re-directed to adjacent crosswalk detours. Real-time traffic impact updates will be posted at Boulder Cone Zones. (Stay up-to-date on Boulder news with Boulder Patch! The project includes the addition of a curb and gutter, and possible improvements to curb ramps, bus stops and sidewalks, the city said. Drivers can expect vehicle lane shifts with limited turning movements at Broadway and Quince. Signs will re-direct pedestrians through detour routes. Work on the east side of Broadway is expected to begin at the end of January. Foothills Parkway Bicycle and Pedestrian Underpass The Foothills Parkway Underpass project, on CO 157 just south of Colorado Avenue, is set to be completed in the summer. The new underpass will replace the now-demolished bridge, which came down in the fall. The old bridge was nearing the end of its service life and wasn't compliant with Americans with Disabilities Act, officials said. Drivers, cyclists and pedestrians can expect intermittent lane closures and detours for the duration of the project, which is expected to last through the summer. Up-to-date construction impacts for these projects and others across the city can be found at  Boulder Cone Zones.
