BOULDER, CO — A new red-light camera is being installed at the Foothills Parkway and Arapahoe Avenue Intersection, the City of Boulder announced Wednesday. The camera will be turned on June 8. The camera will monitor both northbound traffic traveling straight through the intersection and vehicles turning left onto Arapahoe Avenue, city officials said. Running red lights is one of the most common causes of traffic crashes in Boulder, the city said. The intersections where the city has posted red light cameras have seen a sharp drop in violations since the program first started in 1998 and a 70 percent decrease in the annual number of collisions caused by running red lights, according to officials.
