Boulder County Coronavirus Update: 768 New Cases

BOULDER COUNTY, CO — Over the past week, 768 new cases of the coronavirus have been reported in Boulder County, according to the latest public health data. As of Thursday, 13,487 people in the county had tested positive for the virus since the outbreak began. The death toll reached 163 after 21 deaths were reported over the past week. Around 390 people have been hospitalized since the outbreak began, according to Boulder County Public Health. More than 229,891 tests have been conducted among county residents. Boulder County remains under 'Level Red - Severe Risk' on the statewide COVID-19 dial, and indoor dining is not permitted in restaurants. The restrictions also include a last call for alcohol at 8 p.m. Colorado received its first shipment of the Pfizer vaccine on Monday morning, and the first doses go to high-risk health care workers — those who have direct contact with COVID-19 patients for 15 minutes or more. "This is great news for our health care workers and those at highest risk in our state and the beginning of the end of the pandemic," Gov. Jared Polis said after the first shipment arrived. "We still have a ways to go and Coloradans should double down now and continue to do what we know works in the fight against this virus and that's wearing masks, physically distancing, and avoiding personal gatherings." Colorado is preparing to distribute the COVID-19 vaccine in three phases over the next nine months.
