Green Ridge Resources LLC is a small habitat restoration company based on the central Oregon coast. We are looking for a few part time/temporary employees to help out with projects for the summer season. Positions will average 20-120 hours per month based on the employee's availability and project needs. Selected candidates will earn $20/hour for the first 80 hours worked and then $24/hour thereafter for the remainder of employment. SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITES & DUTIES • Application of herbicide via backpack sprayer, ATV, or truck mounted sprayer. • Mechanical control of weeds via brush cutter or tractor mounted mower. • Manually pulling weeds. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS • Preferred candidates will demonstrate experience in plant identification either through past work experience or college/advanced high school based coursework. • Preferred candidates will have and be able to demonstrate good organizational and communication skills. WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS • Fieldwork will include working in and around such locations as farms, rivers, streams and ponds; properties with dense vegetation or woodlands; and other areas with steep, slippery, muddy rocky or other hazardous terrain. Ability to navigate rough terrain on foot is essential. Appropriate attire shall be worn for these conditions. • Fieldwork includes walking along or within streams at or below knee and waist height for up to 5 miles a day, in often slippery boulder conditions (appropriate waders and wader boots provided) carrying up to 40 lbs. • Fieldwork will include using watercraft such as kayaks or canoes in river or stream conditions. This will include carrying a watercraft (up to 100 lbs) with another person from vehicles to streams or rivers. Stream conditions range from deep long stretches, tidally influenced rivers and streams with low water conditions that require portaging, dragging or pulling kayaks with application gear for long distances within streams over slippery boulder/rocky conditions and getting in and out of a kayak repeatedly in such cases. • Occasionally we will use motor boats to access deeper longer portions of rivers. All employees will be required to obtain a trainee's herbicide applicator license from the Oregon Department of Agriculture.
