Rehoming PBJ the Mouse

Description

This is an ad for a male adult mouse [currently] named PBJ. His birthdate was 11/01/2020, and he was bred from a professional breeder (not from pet store mice). He is a retired breeder (bred one or two times with original owner, once with me), and he should not be bred again. He is a “black self rex” which means he’s all black in coloration and has the “rex” fur gene. He does have some browning of his fur with age, though it’s not too noticeable unless he’s in the “right” light. He is a sweet guy who loves attention, though he sometimes plays “hard to get” and will not always go straight into your hand for holding immediately. He doesn’t mind being pet, though he prefers to run around in your hands/on your arms when being handled. He often climbs on the ceiling of his tank lid and stands up to watch when I pass by his enclosure. Like all of my mice, he does not bite/nip. There are very little risk of any “accidents” (poop/pee) when he’s being held; the most he’ll do is occasionally drop a little turd. He enjoys climbing more than he does running on his wheel, though he has the habit of tearing down the ropes attached to his tank’s ceiling to make bedding of it instead of exclusively climbing it. He can be adopted with his enclosure, if needed (I no longer have use for it once he’s been rehomed). He’s currently housed in a 25-30 gal glass tank (can’t remember which size) with a mesh lid. His adoption fee without his home and its accessories is $15; $25 with the housing. I’m willing to haggle, but I want him to go to a good home. Please message me for more information or to express interest in him! — I’m downsizing my small animals due to uncertain future living conditions. I’ve unfortunately been too busy and stressed out to give them the attention they deserve and desire. I’ve hand-raised the mice I’m posting here, and they are all rather sweet. They are all around a year old, so they have maybe a year of life left of life (mice live about two years). I’m looking for people who have experience with small animals and who fully intend on caring for the adopted animal(s) for the reminder of their short lives. When requesting to adopt, please include any information about yourself that you feel would be relevant, such as: past experience with small animals, feeding preferences, etc. Please at least be aware that male mice cannot be housed together; females require at least a pair but prefer more. Please also indicate if you have housing for the selected animal(s) already. Each mouse has their own housing already, which I’ll gladly add on to the “care package” which will be included with the adoption (freshly cleaned, with bedding, hide(s), water bottle, wheel, and food bowl). The care package will also include a baggie of their current feed, a couple of their toys, some treats, and a small amount of snacking hay. Pickup in Beaverton at my home is an option (mask[s] required). I usually meet people outside the Petco across from the Fred Meyer/Beaverton Town Square in Beaverton (mask[s] not required). No home delivery; you will need to bring your own small animal carrier suitable for a mouse.
