DeVeauxHosted by Donald LacyFull Restaurant & Bar AvailableSchool of The Getdown welcomes you for an evening of culture and community celebrating the best of Black Music in Oakland from jazz to blues to hip-hop to R&B and more. This event is all ages and free to the community with advance reservations. Join us at the historic Continental Club, opened in 1945 in West Oakland, where artists like Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Tina Turner, Little Richard, Marvin Gaye, B.B. King, Otis Redding, Richard Pryor, and Jimmy McCracklin once held court. Recently remodeled and reopened, this historic center for Black culture features a full bar and soul food menu. COVID-19 POLICY: In the interest of providing the best possible health and safety conditions for our community, all attendees are required to show proof of vaccination against COVID-19. Based on current CDC guidelines, all participants must wear masks regardless of vaccination status. Performers may remove masks while actively performing, providing they maximize physical distancing. We kindly request that anyone feeling unwell refrain from attending.
